Design / LEV Consultation

At McCarthy Environmental Ltd, we have a dedicated Projects and Design Department with a competent team capable of fulfilling design requirements from the simplest to most complex of LEV systems.

LEV Design

We design Local Exhaust Ventilation systems in-line with industry practices, utilising our knowledge of COSHH, HSE guidance document HSG 258 and DSEAR regulations. We continually strive to design and provide systems that are both fit for purpose as well as being ergonomically considerate to suit our clients existing working practices and budgets.

The first steps into achieving the correct design are to carry out Benchmarking of each working process where a COSHH risk is present, this will verify the contaminants emitted from the working process. From this the quantities of each contaminant can be assessed, and the processes can be listed within their own specific Hazard Band. Upon determining the Hazard Band, the hood type can be determined, allowing our designers to calculate and size the system appropriately.

Once all information has been obtained from the client and all systems have been designed, a specification document will be created to provide a detailed breakdown of design criteria and components within each LEV system, at this point a proposal will also be provided so an accurate cost can be quoted for each project. A technical CAD layout drawing will be issued to show dimensions/routes and layouts of each LEV system highlighted within the specification document. For more complex projects we have 3D modelling capability in BIM format, suitable for building projects.
