Lake swims and mud pits, fallen trees, boggy ground, ditches, hills and dense foliage – just a few of the challenges the team at McCarthy Environmental will face this year.

The team, who are taking part in the Wolf Run on 1stSeptember, is made up of Technical Sales Manager Mark Griffiths, Business Development Manager Andy Shearer, Project Engineer Chris Byrne, Installation Engineer Jason Screen, Test and Service Engineer William Day and Marketing and Administration Assistant Andreea Bacru.

Fittingly, the team are raising money for Asthma UK, a charity which works to stop asthma attacks and, ultimately, cure asthma by funding world leading research and scientists.

Northampton-based McCarthy Environmental is a dust and fume extraction company, committed to cleaning the air in work places to help staff breath easily and avoid the dangers of breathing contaminated air.

Mick McCarthy, Managing Director, said: “Long term exposure to hazardous substances takes many years to manifest into health problems, including asthma, which is why LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation) systems and the work we do is so essential.

“I’m proud of the team for signing up for this huge challenge and delighted to be supporting such an important charity.”

Mark Griffiths said: “As a 43-year-old old desk jockey exercise is not usually a priority, so to set ourselves this challenge is daunting but exciting. We have started training and have named our team Mick’s Marauders.”

Colleague Andy Shearer added: “I’m nervous and having lots of physio to help me get fit and strong. The event will be six weeks before my 50thbirthday so this is a huge personal challenge.”

As added motivation, Mick McCarthy has pledged to match every penny raised by the team, to benefit Asthma UK.
