September 2017: Two new team members have joined Northampton’s dust and fume extraction company McCarthy Environmental – marking the firm’s continued expansion and move into niche markets across the UK.
The Swan Valley based company, which has seen dramatic growth and expansion since moving into new premises earlier this year, has most recently employed Andy Shearer as Business Development Manager and Mark Griffiths as Technical Sales Manager.
The duo, working with owner Mick McCarthy, are now enabling the company to expand into market sectors including nuclear, composites, chemical, aerospace and education.
Mark said: “I joined McCarthy because it is a growing company in a fast-moving industry. This is a new role, offering engineered solutions and bespoke systems to customers. The best bit about my job is the technical challenge, providing a solution when nobody else can. I get a real kick from that and because I started as an installation engineer I can see different solutions and ways of working.”
Andy added: “One of the new sectors I am particularly passionate about is supporting engineering and manufacturing within the UK civil nuclear industry. This is a vital component in the UK’s energy mix, with health and safety and quality standards at its very heart. Our role is to support and work with businesses within the nuclear sector supply chain to ensure compliance and safety in the workplace.”
The duo will be exhibiting at a number of high profile exhibitions this year, including the NEC’s Advanced Engineering 2017 show and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority Supply Chain Exhibition in Manchester, both in early November.
Mick McCarthy, Managing Director, said: “Since moving from our town centre offices into our new Northampton headquarters on the Swan Valley Industrial Estate earlier this year our expansion has been dramatic, with our client list expanding, new team members coming on board and our reputation extending into new and niche sectors.
“Andy and Mark are an excellent addition to the team and we look forward to continuing our growth in both general sales and in Andy’s specialist areas.”
Mark’s long career in the LEV industry began as an engineer and for the last 10 years he worked as a system design engineer responsible for large turnkey projects, from initial consultation through design, installation and commission.
Andy’s career in business development in precision machine engineering industries, including the nuclear sector, places him in the ideal position to take the company’s range of Filtowers and Oilmacs to new markets.
It is an employer’s responsibility to comply with The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) 2002 Regulations, to control operatives’ exposure to dusts and fumes to below specified levels.
McCarthy Environmental works with companies all across the UK, helping businesses keep their workforces safe and healthy. Local clients include a Formula 1 motor racing company, The University of Northampton, Edward Green Shoes and Daventry’s Mosaic Restoration Company.
